Abstract

The runof flow in floodwatters in Paraguay often cause great problems in our streets, not only on materials, but also causing human deaths, dragging around vehicles and people. This situation is alarming, and led us to study it, but not just as a statistical number, but to understand the physics of the hydrodynamic phenomena of the flow that runs through our streets after a flood. To do this, it was chosen to parameterize the speeds and levels found in the streets during real events, with common rainfall, by processing images of filming by LSPIV (Large Scale Particle Image Velocimetry) and complementing with three-dimensional numerical simulations CFD (Computational Fluid Dinamic), and then compare them with studies done in laboratories. The results found showed values of speeds and critical levels for pedestrians and vehicles, confirming the danger that appears in our streets during these events.
